Distribution of rare earth elements in fly ash derived from the combustion of Illinois Basin coals

Summary: The study revealed that the rare earth element concentrations in Illinois Basin coal-sourced fly ashes are lower than those in fly ashes from the combustion of Central Appalachian coals, and their elemental composition is influenced by the feed coal composition. Compared to fly ashes from eastern Kentucky and Central Appalachia, Illinois Basin fly ashes exhibit unique REE enrichment patterns.
