Comparison of SARS-CoV-2 serological tests with different antigen targets

Alix T. Coste et al.

Summary: This study compared 17 SARS-CoV-2 serological tests and found that most tests exhibited high sensitivity and specificity for detecting IgG/pan-Ig in moderately to critically ill hospitalized patients, but had insufficient performance for IgM and IgA detection.

SARS-CoV-2 Serologic Assay Needs for the Next Phase of the US COVID-19 Pandemic Response

Adi Gundlapalli et al.

Summary: There is a current lack of standardized SARS-CoV-2 quantitative IgG and neutralization assays, which hinders the comparison of results from different studies. Most studies have used in-house laboratory-developed tests with non-standardized reporting methods. It is vital to enhance interassay and interlaboratory validation and standardization in order to better understand immune responses and vaccine efficacy.

Comparison of Serological Assays for the Detection of SARS-CoV-2 Antibodies

Joe James et al.

Summary: The study analyzed serological antibody responses to SARS-CoV-2 infection during acute and convalescent stages using various detection methods. The virus neutralization test (VNT) and SARS-CoV-2-N ELISA showed strong correlation and increased detection rates when used together. The pVNT proved to be a sensitive, specific, and reproducible alternative to VNT, effectively discriminating SARS-CoV-2 antibody positive and negative serum samples across multiple institutions.
