Three-dimensional transient model of zinc-nickel single flow battery considering side reactions

Shouguang Yao et al.

Summary: A three-dimensional transient model for zinc nickel single flow battery with consideration of side reactions of hydrogen evolution and oxygen evolution was established and its accuracy was verified by experiments. The effects of current density, electrolyte flow rate, initial ion concentration, temperature, and electrode porosity on the side reactions were investigated, showing that reducing current density, temperature, or increasing electrolyte flow rate can effectively reduce the reaction rate of side reactions.
