Bonding interface boosts the intrinsic activity and durability of NiSe@Fe2O3 heterogeneous electrocatalyst for water oxidation

Kailu Guo et al.

Summary: A core-shell heterogeneous structure of oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalyst was fabricated in this study, showing low overpotential, small Tafel slope, and good long-term stability. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray absorption spectroscopy revealed the Fe-Se bond at the interface, while density functional theory calculation indicated the favorable effect of this bonding on OER activity.

Assembling flower-on-sheet CoP-NiCoP nanohybrids as efficient self-supported electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction in both acidic and alkaline media

Yuqun Lin et al.

Summary: This study presents an effective strategy to develop flower-on-sheet structured nanohybrids, serving as efficient self-supported electrodes for the hydrogen evolution reaction in both acidic and alkaline media. The unique nanostructure provides maximal exposed surface area and increased active sites, resulting in superior catalytic activity and stability. The as-prepared electrocatalyst exhibits benchmark current density with low overpotentials, outperforming most previously reported metal phosphides-based electrocatalysts.
