Hybrid emergency ventilation system for controlling inhaled contaminant dose in the case of chemical leakage

Shun Ichimiya et al.

Summary: In factories handling high-risk chemical pollutants, it is crucial to have emergency response measures in place to minimize adverse health effects on workers. Anticipating and evaluating the concentration distributions in enclosed spaces during a liquid chemical pollutant leakage is important to prevent large-scale accidents. Developing emergency ventilation systems and using wall materials with PCO mechanisms can effectively control chemical pollutant diffusion and peak concentrations in enclosed spaces.

Comparison of common machine learning algorithms trained with multi-zone models for identifying the location and strength of indoor pollutant sources

Yu Huang et al.

Summary: Accurate identification of pollutant sources is crucial in preventing human casualties and property damage. Machine learning algorithms such as ANN, SVM, KNN, and NB can be used with limited sensor data inputs to identify the location of pollutant sources. The study found that collecting pollutant concentrations over an extended period improves identification accuracy, and additional sensors are needed for the same accuracy after introducing distributed meteorological parameters. Increasing trained samples by a factor of five improved KNN's accuracy by 22% and SVM's by 1.7%, while ANN and NB remained unchanged.

Outdoor transportation of influenza virus under natural wind field

Wei Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the transportation of influenza virus in a group of buildings under natural wind conditions. By simulating the velocity field and wind power spectrum, the study simplified the calculation efforts and found that virus particles dispersed faster from buildings in natural wind conditions, with lower contamination concentration.
