A Multi-Objective Ant Colony System Algorithm for Airline Crew Rostering Problem With Fairness and Satisfaction

Summary: The study introduces a new model for airline crew rostering problem that considers both fairness and satisfaction, and develops a multi-objective ACS algorithm. The algorithm uses two ant colonies to optimize fairness and satisfaction objectives, introduces a hybrid complementary heuristic strategy, and includes two types of local search strategies. Experimental results show that MOACS generally outperforms other algorithms, especially on large-scale instances.

Summary: Sensor activity scheduling is critical for extending the lifetime of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The prevalence of sensors with adjustable sensing ranges poses new challenges, making it difficult to directly solve the lifetime maximization problem. A neighborhood-based estimation of distribution algorithm (NEDA) is proposed to address this issue, optimizing network lifetime through coverage scheme evolution and LP model solving. NEDA outperforms existing approaches and has potential applications in solving other flexible LP problems.
