This brief introduces a simple charge-controlled emulator for achieving three types of memory element, which can be further divided into grounded and floating forms. By combining three switches and preserved positions, the memristor, memcapacitor, and meminductor can be obtained. This emulator boasts the widest bandwidth and highest operating frequency, making it a cornerstone for designing high density, high-speed, low power integrated circuits.
In this brief, a simple charge-controlled emulator for achieving three types of memory element is proposed, and each type can be further divided into the grounded and floating forms. All the mathematical models are represented by the first-order polynomial function. The memristor (MR), memcapacitor (MC), and meminductor (ML) can be obtained via the connection combination of three switches (S-1 similar to S-3) and preserved positions (P-1 similar to P-3). So far, this is the simplest emulator with the widest bandwidth and the highest operating frequency. Especially, the frequency of floating ML emulator exceeds 1.5MHz. The proposed emulator can be configured by several off-the-shelf components and utilized to design the high density, high speed, low power, non-volatility, and good scalability integrated circuits, which hopefully makes the cornerstones to build the new generation of intelligent and neuromorphic computers.
