An Empirical Study of Model-Agnostic Techniques for Defect Prediction Models

Jirayus Jiarpakdee et al.

Summary: This paper empirically evaluates the necessity and reliability of model-agnostic techniques in explaining individual predictions of defect models through a case study of 32 highly-curated defect datasets. Moreover, more than half of the practitioners perceive contrastive explanations as necessary and useful in understanding the predictions of defect models.

Predicting Defective Lines Using a Model-Agnostic Technique

Supatsara Wattanakriengkrai et al.

Summary: This study proposes a novel framework called Line-DP for identifying defective lines using a model-agnostic technique. The evaluation results show that Line-DP outperforms six baseline approaches in terms of recall, false alarm rate, and top 20%LOC recall. The framework requires less inspection effort and manageable computation cost.
