In this letter, a novel variable power divider is proposed, providing wide-range power division. The theoretical discussion and experimental evaluation of a prototype confirm the concept and feasibility of the proposed circuit design.
In this letter, a novel variable power divider, which provides wide-range variable power division, is proposed. The proposed power divider consists of a magic-T, variable phase shifter, and 90 degrees delay line. The operating principle of the proposed circuit is theoretically discussed, and a 5-GHz band prototype using a planar magic-T is designed and experimentally evaluated. The measured power division range is more than 14 dB with a small phase difference variation of less than 15 degrees. The concept and feasibility of the proposed variable power divider are experimentally confirmed.
