The paper discusses how power plants in China and other places burn multiple types of coal to consider transportation costs and limited coal reserves. By analyzing coal quality and designing air distribution modes, the study aims to improve thermal efficiency and reduce NOx emissions.
Power plants have their own corresponding designed coal types. However, in practice, typically in China, more than one types of coal are burnt in power plants for long term as the cost of transportation and limited reserves of coal needed to be considered. In this paper, a soft-measuring model is built to analyze coal quality. By running the online coal quality analysis program, coal type burning on the boiler at present is obtained. Three common coal types are selected and three air distribution modes are designed. By simulation, temperature CO emission and NOx emission graphics are obtained and the best air distribution mode is chosen for each coal type. Combining with the coal quality analysis system, the air distribution mode can be adjusted while the boiler is running, which can increase the thermal efficiency and decrease the NOx emission.
