Homogeneous water nucleation in carbon dioxide-nitrogen mixtures: Experimental study on pressure and carrier gas effects

M. M. Campagna et al.

Summary: New homogeneous nucleation experiments were conducted on water in carrier gas mixtures with varying carbon dioxide content at 240 K. The results showed that as pressure and carbon dioxide content increased, the nucleation rate of water also increased. This behavior was attributed to the reduction in water surface tension due to the adsorption of carrier gas molecules. Comparison with theoretical predictions revealed that the theoretical model tended to overestimate the pressure and composition dependence.
