B-BOP, the SPICA Imaging Polarimeter

Summary: The B-BOP instrument is a polarimetric camera onboard the future ESA-JAXA SPICA far-infrared space observatory, allowing for the study of magnetic fields in various astrophysical environments by measuring submillimeter light polarization. The maps generated by B-BOP will contain information on total power, as well as the degree and angle of polarization, simultaneously in three spectral bands. The ultra-sensitive silicon bolometer detectors of B-BOP are intrinsically sensitive to polarization with an NEP close to 10E(-18) W/sqrt(Hz).
