Metal-Free Trifluoromethylthiolation of Arylazo Sulfones

Ankun Li et al.

Summary: This protocol for the synthesis of aryl trifluoromethyl thioethers under visible-light-driven conditions does not require the use of photocatalysts or metal catalysts. It utilizes the unique properties of arylazo sulfones and S-trifluoromethyl arylsulfonothioates as precursors, making the procedure easy to handle.

Acid-promoted selective synthesis of trifluoromethylselenolated benzofurans with Se-(trifluoromethyl) 4-methylbenzenesulfonoselenoate

Juyan Liu et al.

Summary: A Bronsted acid-promoted trifluoromethylselenolation of benzofurans using a stable and easily prepared electrophilic trifluoromethylselenolating reagent was disclosed, resulting in a range of SeCF3-substituted benzofuran derivatives with moderate to good yields and excellent regioselectivity. Additionally, a tandem cyclization/trifluoromethylselenolation procedure of specific compounds was achieved by employing FeCl3 as the catalyst.

(Trifluoromethylselenyl)methylchalcogenyl as Emerging Fluorinated Groups: Synthesis under Photoredox Catalysis and Determination of the Lipophilicity

Kevin Grollier et al.

Summary: This study presents a method for synthesizing molecules bearing (trifluoromethylselenyl)methylchalcogenyl groups, with good yields up to 88% and up to 98% in flow chemistry conditions. The mechanism of this key reaction was investigated, and the emerging groups were physicochemically characterized. Additionally, the reaction was extended to perfluoroalkylselenolation with yields up to 95%, and successfully applied to the functionalization of bioactive molecules.
