The long-term outcomes and durability of the Cox-Maze IV procedure for atrial fibrillation

Ali J. Khiabani et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the long-term efficacy of the Cox-Maze IV procedure (CMP-IV) in treating atrial fibrillation (AF). The results showed that CMP-IV had superior outcomes in maintaining sinus rhythm and was more effective compared to catheter ablation and other forms of surgical ablation for AF. Age, left atrial size, and nonparoxysmal AF were the most relevant predictors of late recurrence.
