Perspectives on Larval Behaviour in Biophysical Modelling of Larval Dispersal in Marine, Demersal Fishes

Jeffrey M. M. Leis

Summary: Biophysical dispersal models for marine fish larvae often overlook larval behavior, which actually plays a significant role in predicting dispersal outcomes. Future research should focus more on incorporating larval behavior into models. Key issues include different behavioral metrics, ontogenetic, temporal, spatial and among-individual variation, and model validation.
