Sunflower syndrome: a poorly understood photosensitive epilepsy

Kennedy R. Geenen et al.

Summary: Sunflower syndrome is a rare photosensitive epilepsy characterized by handwaving motions that can induce seizures and a strong attraction to sunlight and other light sources. Misdiagnosis is common, and traditional anticonvulsant medications are often ineffective, leading patients to resort to behavioral interventions. Further research is needed to understand the natural history of the syndrome and explore more effective treatment options.
