Thalamic oscillatory activity may predict response to deep brain stimulation of the anterior nuclei of the thalamus

Barbora Deutschova et al.

Summary: This study investigated the contribution of local/regional properties of stimulated structure/circuitry to the effect of deep brain stimulation (DBS). By analyzing intracerebral EEG recordings from DBS electrodes targeted in the anterior nuclei of the thalamus (ANT), significant differences were found between responders and nonresponders, with the BRIDGE area showing the most prominent differences. The EEG characteristics in the ANT region post-implantation may play a significant role in predicting the response to DBS.
