A new method for building a microfluidic platform in a printed circuit board was presented. A Y type microfluidic networks were embedded into the printed circuit board using hollowed-out technology and soft lithography technology. A piezoelectric device with interdigital transducers was integrated into the printed circuit board for improving microfluidic mixing. Microfluidic transportation and mixing operations using red fluid and blue fluid were demonstrated in presented microfluidic platform. Results show that the presented method can embed microfluidic networks and piezoelectric devices into a printed circuit board, and surface acoustic wave can improve the mixing level of micro fluid in the micro channel embedded in printed circuit board.
