AVKORC1-based SNP survey of anticoagulant rodenticide resistance in the house mouse, Norway rat and roof rat in the USA

Juan C. Diaz et al.

Summary: A study conducted on nsSNPs in Vkorc1 gene revealed different levels of resistance in house mice, Norway rats, and roof rats, likely caused by gene mutations. Patterns of nsSNP sharing between USA and Europe indicate the importance of convergent evolution and gene flow in resistance spread. Further genetic testing and population genomic data are needed to study the origin and spread of this adaptive trait in the USA.

Water vole management - Could anticoagulant rodenticides stereochemistry mitigate the ecotoxicity issues associated to their use?

Rami Abi Khalil et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the pharmacokinetics of rodenticide residues in voles and explored potential ways of improving the mass application of these agents based on stereochemistry. It was found that bromadiolone has a dramatic tissue persistence in voles, while chlorophacinone has a rather short tissue half-life. Therefore, cis-bromadiolone isomers may be a good compromise between efficacy and ecotoxicological risk for vole control.
