Evaluation of Henna Extract Performance on Corrosion Inhibition of API 5L Steel in H2S-Containing Medium and DFT Quantum Computing of Its Constituents

Behnaz Hamrahi et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effect of Henna extract as an inhibitor on the corrosion behavior of API 5L Gr.B steel in H2S-containing solution at 25 degrees C. Results showed that the corrosion current density decreased and inhibition efficiency increased with higher Henna extract concentration. Quantum chemical calculations revealed Lawsone as the main constituent and inhibition agent in Henna extract.

Propagation characteristics of optimum wormhole in carbonate matrix acidizing using micro X-ray CT imaging

Hyunsang Yoo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the propagation characteristics of an optimum wormhole for efficient acid treatment in carbonate matrix acidizing. The research found that the optimum injection rates tended to increase with permeability but was not related to acid concentrations, and the actual flow length of the optimum wormhole is much longer than the core length. Further research is needed to develop a new wormhole prediction model considering factors like diameter reduction and actual flow length.

Pore-scale insights into sludge formation damage during acid stimulation and its underlying mechanisms

Seyed Mehdi Mirkhoshhal et al.

Summary: This study investigates the mechanisms of acid-induced formation damage through dynamic micro-scale experiments and static tests, revealing that acid-oil interaction leads to sludge formation and intensified damage over time. The type and concentration of acid significantly impact sludge and emulsion formation, while ferric ions play a key role in facilitating two-phase contact.

A review of laboratory studies and theoretical analysis for the interaction mode between induced hydraulic fractures and pre-existing fractures

Qi Zhang et al.

Summary: This study reviewed induced hydraulic fracture behaviors and interaction processes in laboratory tests and theoretical analysis. It explored the effects of various parameters on fracture behaviors, interaction modes, and mechanisms, compared different theoretical criteria, conducted sensitivity analysis on geological conditions and hydraulic fracturing parameters, and discussed important findings for optimizing fracture-stimulation operations in the field. Promising studies were recommended for further insights into the study of interaction modes based on the literature review.

Numerical simulation of formation damage by drilling fluid in low permeability sandstone reservoirs

Weiwei He et al.

Summary: Understanding and predicting formation damage during drilling operation is crucial for protecting oil/gas reservoirs; an empirical relationship was identified between invasion volume of drilling fluid and permeability reduction; in low permeability reservoirs, high viscosity, low density oil-based slurry, and shorter soaking period can help decrease formation damage.
