Facile construction of mesoporous carbon enclosed with NiCoPx nanoparticles for desirable Pt-based catalyst support in methanol oxidation

Junjie Ding et al.

Summary: A novel nanoarchitecture has been successfully constructed by confining bimetallic phosphides within mesoporous carbon as Pt support, leading to enhanced catalytic activity and stability in methanol oxidation reaction. The synergistic effect between Pt, NiCoPx, and mesoporous carbon has resulted in increased active sites and intrinsic activity per site. The encapsulation carbon layer protects the co-catalytic effect of NiCoPx after long-time exposure.

SnS Nanoparticles Grown on Sn-Atom-Modified N,S-Codoped Mesoporous Carbon Nanosheets as Electrocatalysts for CO2 Reduction to Formate

Shulin Zhao et al.

Summary: A novel nanohybrid catalyst, SnS/Sn-NSC NH, was developed for efficient CO2 electroreduction to produce formate. The synergistic effect of SnS nanoparticles and Sn atoms in the carbon matrix, along with the 3D hierarchical porous structure, provided more active sites and shortened the diffusion pathway, leading to improved performance in CO2 reduction. The SnS/Sn-NSC NH exhibited high Faradaic efficiency of formate over a wide potential range, offering a promising strategy for enhancing formate productivity through CO2 electrocatalytic reduction.

Structure-intensified PtCoRh spiral nanowires as highly active and durable electrocatalysts for methanol oxidation

Xiaowei Chen et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that ternary PtCoRh alloyed spiral nanowires can serve as active and robust MOR electrocatalysts in acidic media, showing high mass activity and specific activity, as well as excellent durability. The incorporation of Rh atoms stabilizes the nanowires, prevents leaching of Co atoms, and enhances electron transfer among metallic elements, leading to improved MOR activity, structural stability, and anti-CO-poisoning ability. This work provides a rational strategy for developing efficient and durable alcohol oxidation electrocatalysts.

Molecule-assisted modulation of the high-valence Co3+ in 3D honeycomb-like CoxSy networks for high-performance solid-state asymmetric supercapacitors

Haiyan Wang et al.

Summary: Modulating the oxidation states of transition metal species to achieve more active sites in electrode materials has shown promising results in this research. A unique 3D honeycomb-like cobalt sulfide network with increased high-valence Co3+ ratio was prepared using a simple self-templating strategy, leading to excellent performance including high specific capacity and cycling stability. The synergetic effect of the tailored high-valence Co3+ with the 3D network structure contributed to the high energy density and robust cycling stability observed in the solid-state asymmetric supercapacitor constructed based on the electrodes.
