From nuclear energy developmental state to energy transition in South Korea: The role of the political epistemic community

Summary: This study explores the changes in Korean nuclear energy policy and highlights the role of political coalitions in energy policy transitions. Different political administrations have different coalitions, involving politicians, bureaucrats, industries, civil society organizations, which impact the development and transformation of energy policies. During the Lee and Park administrations, a nuclear energy developmental state emerged, while the Moon administration focuses on postnuclear energy and decentralized renewable energy systems.
