Getting the measure of the biodiversity crisis in Mediterranean coastal habitats

Marta Gaia Sperandii et al.

Summary: This study reveals large, often non-random, taxonomic and functional changes occurring in Mediterranean coastal dune plant communities in a surprisingly short time-span. It highlights the severe shifts in community structure and ecological strategies in different habitat types, indicating intense degradation processes in these habitats. The findings also provide crucial information for directing future conservation efforts and management, emphasizing the urgent need to further investigate the potential drivers of these changes.
