Lermontov crater on Mercury: Geology, morphology and spectral properties of the coexisting hollows and pyroclastic deposits

Summary: A multidisciplinary analysis of Lermontov crater on Mercury reveals the presence of coexisting hollows and pyroclastic deposits both inside and outside the crater. Spectral analysis shows that the pyroclastic deposits on the crater's floor have a steep, red spectral behavior dominated by various pyroxenes containing Ti and Ni, while the vents' rims are characterized by bluer spectral slopes. This study suggests that the spectral signatures of hollows are influenced by the composition of the surrounding terrain where they form.
