Oral Gel Loaded by Fluconazole-Sesame Oil Nanotransfersomes: Development, Optimization, and Assessment of Antifungal Activity

Summary: The study aimed to improve local treatment of oral candidiasis by developing fluconazole-loaded nanotransfersomes embedded in hyaluronic acid hydrogel. The optimized formulation showed desirable rheological behavior for oral application and rapid drug release. It exhibited enhanced antifungal efficacy and higher permeation compared to other formulations when tested in immunocompromised animals.
