Acute Appendicitis: Trends in Surgical Treatment

Summary: The number of appendectomies in German hospitals for acute appendicitis has decreased from 2010 to 2017, mainly due to a decrease in surgeries for uncomplicated cases. Mortality rates have also decreased in patients undergoing surgical treatment for complicated appendicitis and those with severe clinical conditions.
