This review summarizes the scientific progress in the chemistry, synthetic procedures, and reactivity of cyclooligophosphanes over the past 30 years. It discusses the rich coordination chemistry of cyclooligophosphanes, the powerful characterization role of P-31 NMR spectroscopy for phosphorus-rich compounds, and the potential application of phosphorus-rich metal complexes as precursors for metal phosphides.
In this review, the scientific progress of the last 30 years on the chemistry, synthetic procedures and the reactivity of cyclooligophosphanes is presented. Cyclooligophosphanes display a rich coordination chemistry which is still only barely explored. P-31 NMR spectroscopy is a powerful tool for the characterisation of phosphorus-rich compounds. Furthermore, the potential application of phosphorus-rich metal complexes as precursors for metal phosphides is discussed. (C) 2020 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
