Bond behavior of square CFT using manufactured sand and recycled coarse aggregate

Minsheng Guan et al.

Summary: This study investigated the bond behavior of concrete-filled square steel tubes using manufactured sand and recycled coarse aggregate, finding that MS-RCA-CFT members had similar bond behavior as conventional CFT members. Factors such as increasing concrete compressive strength and decreasing width-to-thickness ratio led to higher bond strength, while a stone powder content of 5% to 10% resulted in the highest bond strength.

Prediction of ultrasonic pulse velocity in steel fiber-reinforced concrete containing nylon granule and natural zeolite after exposure to elevated temperatures

Mahdi Nematzadeh et al.

Summary: This study used ultrasonic pulse velocity to characterize the mechanical properties of steel fiber-reinforced concrete containing recycled nylon granule and natural zeolite. The results showed that adding recycled nylon granule reduces the mechanical properties of concrete, but incorporating steel fiber and natural zeolite can enhance the performance of concrete.

Effect of hot-compacted waste nylon fine aggregate on compressive stress-strain behavior of steel fiber-reinforced concrete after exposure to fire: Experiments and optimization

Morteza Tayebi et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the compressive stress-strain performance of fiber-reinforced concrete with upgraded nylon waste before and after heating. Results showed notable degradation in mechanical features of concrete with increased heating temperature, while the addition of steel fibers improved the mechanical properties. Two stress-strain models were proposed to capture the post-heating compressive behavior of concrete, and the response surface method was used to optimize the design parameters for maximizing compressive strength and toughness index of concrete.

Summary: This research explores the influence of steel fibers on the bond strength between concrete and rebar through various methods, revealing the significant role of steel fibers in bond strength with unique performance and effects. By analyzing different parameters, a model was established to evaluate bond strength, which was then validated against previous experimental findings and models.

Post-fire flexural performance and microstructure of steel fiber-reinforced concrete with recycled nylon granules and zeolite substitution

Morteza Tayebi et al.

Summary: Polymer wastes are categorized as highly recyclable materials, and utilizing them in the concrete industry to replace aggregates can reserve natural resources and partly mitigate waste disposal problems. This study investigates the flexural response of steel fiber-reinforced concrete incorporating recycled nylon granules and natural zeolite after exposure to elevated temperatures. The results show that adding natural zeolite to the concrete mixes can improve compressive and flexural strength, as well as flexural stiffness capacity.

Investigation of the efficacy of nano-silica on mechanical properties of Green-Engineered Cementitious Composite (GECC) containing high volume natural zeolite

Seyed Mohammadhossein Razavi et al.

Summary: This study aimed to optimize and improve the properties of Green-Engineered Cementitious Composite (GECC) with a high volume natural zeolite by adding micro-and nano-silica. The results showed that nano-silica improved the mechanical properties and flexural toughness index of GECC, enhancing the fiber/matrix interaction and reducing porosity around fibers in the interfacial transition zone.

Strengthening of heat-damaged steel fiber-reinforced concrete using CFRP composites: Experimental study and analytical modeling

Mahdi Nematzadeh et al.

Summary: The study found that concrete wrapped with CFRP exhibits higher compressive strength, peak axial strain, maximum volumetric strain, toughness, and energy absorption than unwrapped concrete. The proposed stress-strain model accurately predicts the behavior of heated concrete with CFRP wrapping, demonstrating the benefits of using FRP in enhancing the performance of structural members exposed to elevated temperatures.

Innovative models for predicting post-fire bond behavior of steel rebar embedded in steel fiber reinforced rubberized concrete using soft computing methods

Mahdi Nematzadeh et al.

Summary: This study investigates the bond behavior between steel rebar and high-strength concrete containing crumb rubber (CR) after exposure to heat. The findings show that incorporating CR reduces bond strength, with a greater reduction at higher temperatures. Additionally, the study suggests that a greater embedment length is required for specimens incorporating CR compared to those without. The developed soft computing model provides more accurate predictions of bond strength and behavior compared to existing codes.
