Water budget components estimation for a mature citrus orchard of southern China based on HYDRUS-1D model

Anguo Tu et al.

Summary: Research indicates that the average annual effective rainfall in citrus orchards in the study area was 812.4 mm from 2010 to 2015, with over 70 mm of average monthly effective rainfall from April to September, accounting for 66.63% of the annual total. Collecting surface runoff through rainwater harvesting for irrigation can help alleviate water shortages during the citrus growth period. Measures to reduce deep percolation should be considered to increase the effective rainfall for sloping citrus orchards.

Reduced root water uptake of summer maize grown in water-repellent soils simulated by HYDRUS-1D

Xiaofang Wang et al.

Summary: The study found that the growth of summer maize in water repellent soils could be hindered by weak root water uptake and high soil water evaporation. This was supported by data and simulations showing a decrease in maize root water uptake and higher evaporation rates in water repellent soils compared to control.
