Algorithmic Surveillance in the Gig Economy: The Organization of Work through Lefebvrian Conceived Space

Crowdwork and the mobile underclass: Barriers to participation in India and the United States

Summary: This study examines whether device requirements and differential access to digital infrastructure act as barriers to online crowdwork, particularly for economically disadvantaged populations. The results suggest that reliance on mobile devices may have a detrimental impact on the economic outcomes of crowdwork, highlighting substantial inequalities in device use and benefits received from crowdwork within and between countries.
