Synthesis and characterization of cationic quaternary ammonium geminis (16-s-16) and their role in ninhydrin-[Cu(II)-His]+ reaction

Dileep Kumar et al.

Summary: Cationic quaternary ammonium gemini surfactants were synthesized through a reaction involving N,N-dimethylcetylamine and alpha,omega-dibromoalkane, and were characterized using various analyses. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) of these surfactants was calculated using conductivity, while their role in reactions was investigated using UV-vis spectroscopy. The rate constant (k(psi)) was determined at different concentrations and plotted graphically, showing a pseudo-phase model of micelles. Other reaction parameters and binding constants were also explored, providing a comprehensive understanding of the synthesized quaternary ammonium geminis and their behavior in reactions.

Interaction of tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide with bovine serum albumin in different compositions: Effect of temperatures and electrolytes/urea

Joynal Abedin et al.

Summary: The study investigated the interaction between BSA and TTAB in different solvents, finding changes in critical micelle concentration and spontaneity of micellization process. The addition of salt decreased the cmc value in mixed systems, while temperature and additives influenced the dissociation degree and fraction of ion binding. The free energy of micellization was found to be negative, indicating energetically spontaneous micellization process.

Study of metal-amino acid [Cr(III)-Trp]2+complex and ninhydrin reaction: role of gemini micellar solution on rate constant

Malik Abdul Rub et al.

Summary: This article investigated the study of metal-amino acid complex and ninhydrin reaction in gemini micellar solution, showing that the gemini surfactant series had a more efficient influence on the rate constant than pure water and traditional surfactant systems. The activation parameters determined through Eyring's equation and different constants indicated lower values of activation enthalpy and large negative activation entropy in gemini micellar solutions compared to aqueous solutions.

Influence of electrolytes on the clouding and thermodynamic nature of non-ionic surfactant in the presence of an antibiotic drug

Muhammad Akhlaqur Rahman Khan et al.

Summary: The cloud point of a mixture of Tween 80 and neomycin sulphate in various electrolyte conditions was measured. The results showed that the CP of Tw 80 decreased with increasing concentration, while the addition of NS also led to a decrease in CP values. The CP values of NS+Tw 80 mixtures decreased with the addition of different salts in the order of CPNa2SO4 > CPNaNO3 > CPNaCl. Thermodynamic variables and properties during phase transition were also determined.

Summary: The interaction between the antibiotic drug MFH and the surfactant CTAB was studied in different solvents, showing a strong dependence on temperature and concentration. The presence of alcohols/diols was found to facilitate micellization, with negative Delta G(m)(o) values indicating a spontaneous process. Additionally, the values of counter-ion dissociation were temperature-dependent.

Summary: The study investigated the interaction mode and micellization characteristics of Cephalexin monohydrate with both ionic and nonionic surfactants, revealing that the presence of CLM enhances the micellization of surfactants. The study also found that the binding constant of CLM mixture with nonionic surfactant is dependent on CLM concentration and temperature, indicating the presence of electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions between the CLM drug and the surfactant.

Clouding phenomena and thermodynamics of TX-100+polyethylene glycol mixture: influence of several electrolytes

Md. Jamil Hossain et al.

Summary: In this study, the solution properties of Triton X-100 (TX-100) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) mixtures in different salt solutions were observed, showing a decrease in cloud point (CP) values and a non-spontaneous nature of the clouding process. The non-spontaneity of the clouding process decreased gradually with increasing salt concentrations. Negative values of Delta H-c(0) and Delta S-c(0) indicated the presence of exothermic interactions between TX-100 and PEG, with a linear relationship established between the two parameters.
