Acute Kidney Injury Requiring Dialysis and Incident Dialysis Patient Outcomes in US Outpatient Dialysis Facilities

Summary: This study compared patient characteristics and mortality between AKI patients requiring dialysis and non-AKI incident dialysis patients, finding that AKI patients had higher early mortality that declined after several months. Differences were also observed in mortality risk by age, race, and ethnicity within both patient cohorts.
