The impact of climate vulnerability on firms' cost of capital and access to finance

Gerhard Kling et al.

Summary: This article provides the first comprehensive investigation of how climate-related vulnerability affects firms' cost of capital and access to finance, particularly in developing countries. The study finds that climate vulnerability directly increases the cost of debt for firms and indirectly impacts financial leverage, leading to restricted access to finance. However, limited evidence is found regarding the impact of climate vulnerability on the cost of equity.
