Correlation between pass-through flux of cobalt target and microstructure and magnetic properties of sputtered thin films

Xiu-Lan Xu et al.

Summary: Through the use of an external magnetic field during sputtering, cobalt thin films can have their grain arrangement improved, showing more regular orientation. Films deposited with a high pass-through flux target exhibit randomly oriented grains, while those from a low pass-through flux target show relatively consistent orientations which in turn influence their remanence ratios.

Qingwang Bai et al.

Summary: The study found that inserting a Pd layer into the CMS can enhance the PMA and saturated magnetization. By adjusting the thickness of the CMS and Co3O4 layers, PMA can be maintained. Furthermore, the crystallization quality of Co3O4 affects the flatness of the interface and PMA of the multilayer film.

MgGa2O4 as alternative barrier for perpendicular MRAM junctions and VCMA

S. Mertens et al.

Summary: The high crystalline quality of the MgO tunnel barrier in the CoFeB/MgO/CoFeB magnetic tunnel junction contributes to high TMR and PMA. Introducing MgGa2O4 as an alternative barrier material allows for the fabrication of a vertical MRAM stack with full PMA and TMR > 100%.
