Highly dispersed bismuth oxide quantum dots/graphite carbon nitride nanosheets heterojunctions for visible light photocatalytic redox degradation of environmental pollutants

Ying Liang et al.

Summary: Low loading highly dispersed ultra-small quantum dots of Bi2O3 anchored onto graphite carbon nitride nanosheets were successfully synthesized using a facile wet impregnation and manual grinding strategy. The post-treatment of the prepared material through facial photoinduction significantly boosted photocatalytic removal efficiency towards tetracycline and hexachromium. The enhanced interfacial contact and charge carrier transfer between Bi2O3 QDs and g-C3N4 nanosheets led to improved photocatalytic activity with abundant free radicals produced. Additionally, the novel photocatalyst showed long term structural and photocatalytic stabilities.

Photocatalytic degradation of sulfadiazine in suspensions of TiO2 nanosheets with exposed (001) facets

Xiaofan Xiang et al.

Summary: The study successfully degraded sulfadiazine (SDZ), a typical sulfonamides antibiotic, using photocatalytic oxidation technology. It was found that TiO2 nanosheets exhibited better photoreactivity towards SDZ degradation. The research also revealed the possible degradation pathways of SDZ and the promising application prospects of TiO2-NSs in removing SDZ.

2D/2D step-scheme α-Fe2O3/Bi2WO6 photocatalyst with efficient charge transfer for enhanced photo-Fenton catalytic activity

Wenliang Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a 2D/2D step-scheme alpha-Fe2O3/Bi2WO6 (FO/BWO) heterostructure photo-Fenton catalyst was successfully synthesized using a facile hydrothermal method, exhibiting significantly enhanced catalytic activity attributed to the combination of H2O2 and FO under light illumination and the presence of the 2D/2D S-scheme heterostructure. The improved catalytic performance was mainly due to the large contact surface, abundant active sites, and efficient separation rate of photogenerated carriers.
