Issues in Preparation of Metal-Lignin Nanocomposites by Coprecipitation Method

Qiangu Yan et al.

Summary: Chemical coprecipitation technique is beneficial for preparing uniformly mixed catalyst metal and Kraft lignin precursors, but careful control of reaction conditions, especially temperature, is essential to prevent uncontrollable exothermic reactions. The method involves dissolving metal salts and lignin in different solvents, mixing them to form composites, and evaluating potential hazards like gas release and thermal runaway reactions. The process is sensitive to transition metal type, solvent selection, and initial temperature, impacting the uniformity and morphology of the metal-lignin composites.

Comparative study of arsenic removal by iron-based nanomaterials: Potential candidates for field applications

Tonoy K. Das et al.

Summary: The study compared graphene oxide supported magnetite (GM) and graphene oxide supported nanoscale zero-valent iron (GNZVI) nanohybrids for arsenic removal and found GNZVI to be more efficient across a wider pH range compared to GM. GNZVI also demonstrated better aqueous dispersibility and higher efficiency for arsenic removal compared to GM.

Insights into kinetics, isotherms and thermodynamics of phosphorus sorption onto nanoscale zero-valent iron

Ibrahim Maamoun et al.

Summary: The study found that Langmuir isotherm and pseudo 2nd order kinetic model were the best models to describe the removal of phosphorus by nanoscale zero-valent iron (NZVI). The research also confirmed the applicability of the proposed models in interpreting the experimental data and revealed the involvement of chemisorption mechanism in the removal process. Additionally, thermodynamic analysis showed the endothermic nature in the NZVI/P system and the occurrence of sorption and reaction rate analysis on two main diffusion steps.
