Covalent organic framework nanorods bearing single Cu sites for efficient photocatalysis

Zhiyue Dong et al.

Summary: By rationally designing novel Cu-coordinated COF nanostructures, this research has achieved efficient visible light absorption, complete electrons-holes separation, and enrichment of toxic organic compounds. The COF-909(Cu) nanorods demonstrated excellent performance in photocatalytic degradation, surpassing current state-of-the-art photocatalysts. Density functional theory calculations confirmed the structure-function relationship between the single Cu sites and the separation of electrons-holes, as well as the strong binding sites for target molecules.

Syntheses of N-Doped Carbon Quantum Dots (NCQDs) from Bioderived Precursors: A Timely Update

Shajeeya Amren Shaik et al.

Summary: The emergence of carbon quantum dots (CQDs) has opened up new opportunities in various branches of science and technology due to their biocompatibility, tunable bandgaps, and unique optoelectronic properties. However, large-scale sustainable synthesis, purification, and the effects of CQDs on health and the environment remain challenges. Nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots (NCQDs) are promising due to their broader precursor scope, natural abundance, and relatively simple synthetic protocols.
