IrO2-CeO2-graphene/Ti porous electrode with high charge-transfer speed and enhanced capacitance

Yanqun Shao et al.

Summary: Exploring composite materials with ideal structures is an effective way to achieve synergy among different functional components. This paper focused on IrO2-CeO2 graphene/Ti composite electrodes prepared using a thermal decomposition method. By analyzing the influence of adding graphene on the electronic structure and observing the microstructure and electrochemical performance through various tests, it was found that while coatings containing graphene exhibited a hierarchical porous structure and improved charge storage performances, excessive graphene could harm the electrodes' cycling stability and specific capacitances.

Templated fabrication of three-dimensional ordered macroporous Cu2O/Ni structure for glucose sensing

Wei-An Chung et al.

Summary: In this study, a three-dimensional ordered macroporous Cu2O/Ni structure was fabricated for electrochemical sensing of glucose, showing comparable or even better performances than nanostructured Cu2O counterparts reported in the literatures. The composite structure exhibited a linear detection range, low detection limit, and high sensitivity, making it a promising candidate for glucose sensing applications.

Stimulation and Recording of the Hippocampus Using the Same Pt-Ir Coated Microelectrodes

Sahar Elyahoodayan et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the capability of recording single units and evoked potentials through high-resolution microelectrodes coated with Pt-Ir, showing higher signal-to-noise ratios and lower voltages compared to uncoated electrodes. The improved performance of the coated electrodes led to lower energy consumptions and enabled electrochemically safe stimulation above 5 μA. This work provides a powerful tool for monitoring and manipulating neural circuits at the single neuron level by stimulating and recording single unit activities from the same microelectrode.
