Super-conductive silver nanoparticles functioned three-dimensional CuxO foams as a high-pseudocapacitive electrode for flexible asymmetric supercapacitors

Hui Jiang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated a new strategy to prepare a low internal resistance and binder-free flexible Ag/CuxO/CF electrode by decorating Ag nanoparticles on CuxO nanowires grown spontaneously on copper foam. The electrode shows potential applications in flexible supercapacitors or other wearable electronic devices.

Recent advances of layered-transition metal oxides for energy-related applications

Zhihao Lei et al.

Summary: In order to address the current energy and environmental crisis, it is essential to incorporate new eco-friendly high-performance materials into energy conversion and storage applications. 2D transition metal oxides (TMOs) are considered promising candidates due to their excellent electrochemical properties, although their poor electronic conductivity limits their potential applications. This review explores strategies for enhancing TMOs through surface modification and discusses their synthesis and applications in supercapacitors, lithium ion batteries, and electrocatalysis. Future prospects, challenges, and opportunities for integrating 2D TMOs into energy applications are also discussed.

Experimental and computational investigation of Cu-N coordination bond strengthened polyaniline for stable energy storage

Yibing Xie et al.

Summary: The PANI-Cu, with strengthened Cu-N coordination bond, exhibits improved capacitive performance compared to PANI, with higher specific capacitance and better cycling stability. Computational simulations show that PANI-Cu has higher density of state at Fermi energy level, lower proton doping energy, and a smaller molecule orbital energy gap, resulting in higher conductivity and superior electroactivity. The flexible PANI-Cu supercapacitor demonstrates promising energy storage capabilities with high energy density, power density, and capacity retention.

In situ decoration of laser-scribed graphene with TiO2 nanoparticles for scalable high-performance micro-supercapacitors

Laura Fornasini et al.

Summary: In this study, TiO2 nanoparticles embedded in porous graphene-based electrodes were synthesized through laser conversion of precursor materials to enhance the electrochemical performance of microsuper capacitors. The TiO2-graphene devices showed high specific areal capacitance, energy, and power, along with excellent cyclability. These findings suggest laser-scribed TiO2-graphene nanostructures as promising candidates for high-performance micro-supercapacitors in environmentally friendly, large-scale, and low-cost applications.

Nickel Cobalt Oxide Nanoneedles for Electrochromic Glucose Sensors

Devesh K. Pathak et al.

Summary: Uniform nanoneedles of binary oxide (Ni and Co) were synthesized on conducting substrates and investigated for dual application in electrochromism and glucose sensing. Detailed characterization and analysis revealed the presence of NiCo2O4 phase and microporous nature of the prepared samples. The nanoneedles grown on transparent FTO substrate achieved low-operating-voltage color modulation, while those grown on CC substrate exhibited high sensitivity in glucose sensing.
