Directing WO3 crystal growth towards artificial photosynthesis favorable {002} plane via aluminum incorporation in the lattice for enhanced water splitting

Shankara S. Kalanur et al.

Summary: The study proposes a method of improving the electrical properties of {002} oriented WO3 crystals using an Al doping strategy, which enhances the photoelectrochemical water splitting O2 production. Al doping reduces the bulk charge transport and interfacial charge transfer resistance, leading to enhanced photoelectrochemical performance in optimized Al-doped WO3 crystals.

T. Lertvanithphol et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated a non-lithography method for fabricating nanoflake aluminum oxide films with omnidirectional broadband antireflection properties. The morphology, chemical composition, and optical properties of the prepared samples were characterized, showing that the optimal optical performance was achieved with a single nanoflake film layer. The facile fabrication process showed potential benefits for large area inexpensive omnidirectional anti-reflection coating.

Comparative investigations of DCMS/HiPIMS reactively sputtered WO3 thin films for photo-electrochemical efficiency enhancements

Saksorn Limwichean et al.

Summary: The study compared the WO3 thin films deposited by DCMS and HiPIMS techniques, with the latter showing better film structures and stability after annealing. The WO3 thin film prepared by HiPIMS displayed higher photocurrent and stability due to its preferred crystalline structure, indicating the potential of HiPIMS deposition technique for semiconductor films in energy and environmental applications.

Summary: An alternative facile method integrating electro-exploding wire and spray coating techniques is demonstrated for applications in large size ECDs. The varied size distribution of WO3 nanomaterials is achieved by changing the exploding voltage. The WO3 NM films prepared at a high exploding voltage and a high substrate temperature present a higher electrochemical stability for over 1000 cycles.
