Production optimization of yellow laccase from Stropharia sp. ITCC 8422 and enzyme-mediated depolymerization and hydrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass for biorefinery application

Komal Agrawal et al.

Summary: Biological pretreatment is crucial in biorefinery for utilizing lignocellulosic biomass. A yellow laccase-producing strain was studied for its production, purification, and depolymerization and hydrolysis. Yellow laccase production was optimized and partially purified using a single-step aqueous two-phase system. The partially purified laccase showed stability and effectiveness in depolymerizing lignin. Integrated depolymerization and hydrolysis using different laccase loads enhanced sugar yield in all biomass. One-step depolymerization and hydrolysis have significant value in large-scale biorefinery and towards a cleaner ecosystem.
