Cu(I) mediated hydrogen borrowing strategy for the α-alkylation of aryl ketones with aryl alcohols

Nasir S. Lawal et al.

Summary: New triazolium Schiff bases (TSBs) were synthesised and characterised, forming mononuclear and dinuclear copper(I) complexes used as homogeneous catalysts for C-C coupling reactions. The catalyst system efficiently and selectively catalysed the alpha-alkylation of aryl ketones with aryl alcohols, yielding high yields of the desired products. The process demonstrated adaptability with various analogues of acetophenone and benzyl alcohol.
