Theories Informing eHealth Implementation: Systematic Review and Typology Classification

Summary: This systematic review identified 36 theories used in explaining eHealth implementation methods, with the most commonly used being the Technology Acceptance Model and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology. Current theories predominantly focus on predicting or explaining end-user acceptance, with less representation of theoretical perspectives capturing the complex relationships and structures required for sustainable change.
