Statistical optimization of dilute acid and H2O2 alkaline pretreatment using surface response methodology and tween 80 for the enhancement of the enzymatic hydrolysis of corncob

C. X. Dominguez-Gomez et al.

Summary: Lignocellulosic biomass is a promising raw material for bioethanol production, but its complex structure hinders the enzymatic saccharification process. Dilute acid and alkaline H2O2 pretreatments are effective methods to reduce costs and enable industrial scaling. The dilute acid pretreatment removed 83.2% of hemicellulose, while the alkaline H2O2 pretreatment removed 56.8% of lignin, and the addition of Tween 80 increased glucose yield.

Effect of sulfuric acid on production of xylooligosaccharides and monosaccharides from hydrogen peroxide-acetic acid-pretreated poplar

Wenjun Ying et al.

Summary: Increasing sulfuric acid concentration in HPAC pretreatment of poplar enhanced lignin removal, leading to improved enzymatic digestibility and increased yields of glucose and xylooligosaccharides. This study demonstrated the critical role of HPAC pretreatment in efficient utilization of poplar carbohydrates through enzymatic hydrolysis.
