Danish premature birth rates during the COVID-19 lockdown

Gitte Hedermann et al.

Summary: A nationwide study in Denmark examined the impact of COVID-19 lockdown on premature birth rates and found a significantly lower rate of extremely premature births during the lockdown period. There was no significant difference in other gestational age categories. The reasons for this decrease are still unclear, but the lockdown period offers a unique opportunity to investigate factors related to prematurity.

Consumer panic in the COVID-19 pandemic

Michael Keane et al.

Summary: This study developed an econometric model of consumer panic during the COVID-19 pandemic, revealing widespread panic in most countries during March with significant variation in timing and severity between countries. The research suggests that both domestic and global virus transmission contribute significantly to consumer panic, while government policies, such as internal movement restrictions, play an important role in generating short-term panic.
