The central parsec of NGC 3783: a rotating broad emission line region, asymmetric hot dust structure, and compact coronal line region

A. Amorim et al.

Summary: Using VLTI/GRAVITY and SINFONI data, the study investigated the subparsec gas and dust structure around the nearby AGN hosted by NGC 3783. The size and kinematics of the BLR, hot dust, and CLR were analyzed simultaneously, revealing a rotating disc structure for the BLR, a FWHM size of 0.74 mas for the hot dust, and a FWHM size of 2.2 mas for the CLR. This comprehensive mapping allowed for a detailed understanding of the gas and dust structure and dynamics from 0.01 to 100 pc.

Tully-Fisher Distances and Dynamical Mass Constraints for 24 Host Galaxies of Reverberation-mapped AGNs

Justin H. Robinson et al.

Summary: The study presents Tully-Fisher distances for 24 active galactic nucleus host galaxies with black hole mass measurements. By combining distance measurements from different methods, distances of galaxies were successfully determined independently of redshift. The research also found significant correlations between black hole mass, galaxy dynamical mass, and dark matter mass.

Geometric Distances of Quasars Measured by Spectroastrometry and Reverberation Mapping: Monte Carlo Simulations

Yu-Yang Songsheng et al.

Summary: The study successfully spatially resolved the structure of the quasar 3C 273 using GRAVITY on the Very Large Telescope Interferometer, and introduced a new method for measuring parallax distances. The SA and RM (SARM) measurements showed great potential as a powerful tool for precision cosmology, with an uncertainty of about 16% from real data. The analysis of mock data indicated that SARM analyses generally produce reliable quasar distances, especially for BLRs with specific inclinations and opening angles.

The Deviation of the Size of the Broad-line Region between Reverberation Mapping and Spectroastrometry

Xiaer Zhang et al.

Summary: The study evaluates the size deviations of six pairs of hydrogen lines in active galactic nuclei, finding significant deviations in the radius ratios of the same line. However, the ratios for the Pa alpha(SA)/H beta(RM) and H alpha(SA)/H beta(RM) pairs are closest to 1 with smaller uncertainties, making them ideal choices for the SARM project. These theoretical estimations pave the way for future measurements to further constrain the standard cosmological model.

Robotic Reverberation Mapping of the Southern Seyfert NGC 3783

Misty C. Bentz et al.

Summary: In this study, spectroscopic and photometric monitoring of NGC 3783 throughout the first half of 2020 revealed time delays between continuum variations and the response of broad optical emission lines. The derived black hole mass from the broad H beta emission line and line width in the spectrum's variable portion has been slightly smaller but consistent with previous determinations, with uncertainties reduced by approximately 50% due to significantly improved time sampling. Clear velocity-resolved time delays were also detected across the broad H beta profile, indicating potential for further improvements in reverberation-based mass estimation and understanding the geometry and kinematics of the broad-line region in active galactic nuclei.

Summary: This study recalibrated the extragalactic distance ladder and refined the determination of the Hubble constant using Hubble Space Telescope and Gaia EDR3 data. The results, based on Milky Way Cepheids observations and estimates, are in good agreement with conclusions based on earlier Gaia data releases.
