Fall predictors beyond fall risk assessment tool items for acute hospitalized older adults: a matched case-control study

Hye-Mi Noh et al.

Summary: This study investigated various clinical factors in predicting inpatient fall risk in older adults, finding that medical history, fall risk assessment, medications, and laboratory results all play a role in fall risk. Factors such as diabetes, high MFS scores, and certain medications were associated with increased risk of falls in hospitalized older adults. The study also showed that examining clinical factors could significantly improve fall prediction beyond the traditional fall risk assessment tool MFS.
