Mathematical analysis and application of a cholera transmission model with waning vaccine-induced immunity

Ning Bai et al.

Summary: This paper investigates a cholera infection model with hyperinfectious and hypoinfectious vibrios, human-to-human and environment-to-human transmission pathways, and waning vaccine-induced immunity. The basic reproduction number is calculated as a threshold for the global dynamics of the model. An application to the cholera outbreak in Somalia is demonstrated, with short-term control measures provided through elasticity and sensitivity analysis.
