In situ bypass and extra-anatomic bypass procedures result in similar survival in patients with secondary aortoenteric fistulas

Matthew R. Janko et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the optimal revascularization approach with the lowest morbidity and mortality in patients with secondary aortoenteric fistula (SAEF). The results showed that there was no significant difference in survival between extra-anatomic bypass (EAB) and in situ bypass (ISB), but EAB patients were more likely to require dialysis postoperatively and less likely to experience aorta-related hemorrhage.
