Impact of campaign-style delivery of routine vaccines: a quasi-experimental evaluation using routine health services data in India

Emma Clarke-Deelder et al.

Summary: The world is struggling to achieve the immunization coverage goals set by the World Health Organization, with India implementing a nationwide campaign-style strategy to improve coverage. While the Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) initiative increased delivery of infant vaccines during the implementation period, there was no sustained effect after it ended. This suggests that IMI and similar approaches may be successful in increasing routine immunization coverage in the short term, but other strategies may be necessary for lasting improvements.
